Discraft Zone
The Zone is an overstable putt-and-approach disc with flight numbers 4 | 3 | 0 | 3. It is designed for controlled approach shots, forehand touch work, and confident upshots in any wind.
The Zone is known for:
- Low glide to avoid overthrowing
- Strong, reliable fade
- High torque resistance, especially on forehands
Backhand, the Zone holds straight briefly before finishing with a dependable fade. Forehand, it resists turning and holds angle under power, making it one of the most trusted approach discs in disc golf.
If you're familiar with the Discraft Buzzz:
- The Zone is much more overstable, with less glide and a sharper finish.
- Use the Buzzz for straight, longer pushes; use the Zone when you need a controlled fade that won’t sail long.
Plastic Comparison
| Plastic | Feel + Flight Notes |
|---|---|
| Z-Line | Firm and durable. True Zone overstability with a consistent, strong fade. |
| ESP | Softer grip and touch. Slightly straighter midpoint but still finishes hard. |
| ESP FLX | Flexible and grippy. Ideal in cold weather and great for forehand torque. |
| Z FLX | Firm with added flexibility. More overstable finish, especially in wind. |
| Big Z | Smooth, slightly more glide. Produces slightly longer carry before fading. |
| Z Glo | Similar to Z but often slightly more overstable, especially when new. |
| Jawbreaker | Chalky and softer feel. Straighter at low power with a gentler fade. |
| Jawbreaker Soft / Hard | Stiffness affects hand feel only. Flight remains similar to standard Jawbreaker. |
| ESP Recycled | Similar to ESP but breaks in sooner for a straighter Zone over time. |
| FLX Brodie | Very gummy with high torque resistance. Excellent forehand control without skip. |
| Titanium | Premium firm feel with a crisp release and solid overstable finish. |
| Tour Series / 6x McBeth Variants | Run-dependent. Typically a touch more stable with smoother glide. |
